Pancake
Book Report
Dear Parents,
In honor of National Pancake Day, our February/March Book report will be a sweet, edible treat! For this report your child should choose a Chapter Book (minimum 30 pages) that has a character they would like to recreate in pancake form.
Before they come to school on March 8th, 2011 each student should:
1) Choose a character from the book they read
- boy, girl, dog, etc.
2) Decide how the character’s face looks- freckles, glasses, earrings, hat, hair color, etc.
3) Collect edible items to recreate this face on a pancake.
4) Write down the title, author, and character’s name on a piece of paper.
Anything (except flour, powdered sugar, syrup, and nuts) from shredded carrots, raisins, gum drops, licorice rope, tootsie rolls, may be used. Please put these “decorations” in a plastic bag and send to school on Tuesday, March 8th- Pancake Day.
We will make the pancakes in class, as part of a Math measurement exercise. After decorating the pancakes, and presenting the characters to the class, the children will, of course, eat the pancakes!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Louis
